stripped bare,

Great shots of Blue Jays, Guy, and your lovely poem reflects the spirit of late autumn. It reminded me of a poem by A.R.Ammons and made me search through my library. I found it - "Density": A bluejay's the clarified bush's only ornament...

Hi Hilke

Thank you your quote from Ammons I really like him and Corsons Inlet is a favourite poem. I immediately picked up my book (Ammons Collected Poems 1951-1971) but could not find the poem you mentioned. Since Ammons lived until 2001 I realized I needed to up date my library so I have requested a number of his later books from the library so I can decide which to purchase. I did find another Ammons poem on Blue Jays. Thanks for bringing the poem Density to my attention it is a real gift when I find more works by a favorite poet.

Regards
Guy

Winter Scene by A. R. Ammons

There is now not a single
leaf on the cherry tree:
except when the jay
plummets in, lights, and,
in pure clarity, squalls:
then every branch
quivers and
breaks out in blue leaves.

Perfect! I love your poem and the one by Ammons you quoted in the comment box! I need to get me some more poetry books! I have not heard of either of the poets you and Hilke mentioned!
