Fathers
           Sons

We showed up for work early
“I told you so” I said needing
a public airing of blame

No time to return home so
we went down to the harbour
and sat looking at the lake

We did not say much
truthfully we never had
too late now for either of us

Is that what wisdom is,
                late.

Very nice poem Guy, this is my first time at your blog and I've just read a smattering of your haikus which I also like very much.

I'm assuming you took your blog name from the poem by the Canadian poet D.G. Jones? Wonderful poet, from Queens University in Ontario, I believe!

Hi Bill

Yes I had just purchased a copy of Jones 1961 book "The Sun is Axeman" when I was setting up both my blogs and I just really liked some of his poems especially "Blue Jay in Haliburton".

I am glad you enjoyed some of my poems. Thanks for stopping by.

BTW, this poem makes me think of my husband and his father. when I read it to him, he said ti made him think of our son. Poems are funny things, aren't they?

Hi Kathie

Yes poems are funny things, when you read them, you take things from them but you also add things to them from your own life. Sort of like a mirrored ball that both reflects and distorts things when you turn it.

Thanks for your comments it means a lot.
